and an INCREDIBLE one! we needed a quick ass shake to get settled in before the rest of the album

The Trio honestly fits so well I can't believe people are still acting like it doesn't It's a perfect little gut punch after announcing her pained departure in Arcadia before the deep dive she takes in Black Bathing Suit.

Blue Banisters actually ages like good wine. While I was realyl excited about it when it came out, I was unsure whether I'd like it on the long run. But right now, I reeeeally enjoy listening to it

Love that we got Dealer immediately on the next record after we found out about it. Could have been like Yosemite where we waited two album cycles later, or worse…

the trio interlude, dealer and moments like the BBS and LL outros are what make this album so interesting to me. They give it life tbh.

i love the trio and dealer, i think if it weren't for them the album would sound too long winded and one tone, it adds a dash of pop and energy imo

I remember driving around town, seeing the posters for West Coast on billboards and I knew that she was about to release something pretty game changing. The day West Coast dropped; I knew she was on a different level than the rest of the girls

It's one of the best songs she ever made and a lot of people aren't ready for that conversation.

Around the paradise tour I think it was just kinda organically headed that way anyway , but it was very satisfying. Like , other than the mystique of the honeymoon era, the utter Fire she was on during this era was insane. And then obviously with the untouchables leaking we kinda spoiled it anyways

critics about BB with 15 songs: Ugh! Too many songs and some are recycled. Nothing much new. critics about re-recorded Red (Taylor's Version) from 2012 with 30 songs: What a pleasure!

Blue Banisters is like a fine wine to me. Of course I loved it when it came out, but after this first month or so, it's become an album I see aspects of my own life in. It hits deeper now. And oddly enough, I can't help but wonder if the sharp changes and juxtapositions in sound throughout the album were done on purpose because of the time period(s) the songs were written about. This is probably her most personal record along with Ultraviolence in my opinion. It's just so beautiful. Even the tracks that aren't in my top five or anything are tracks that I adore.

I think it has to do with making the vinyl pressing cheaper and quicker, so they only had to make a new master disc for 5 songs instead of the whole album

I still have hope that maybe she’ll cover this some day; I could hear Jack and Lana killing this in a studio. The whole notion of a woman who—no matter how close you think you are to her—will always hide away her own inner world like that of a secret garden is just so Lana, and c’mon, it’s Springsteen!

I've been thinking about this for a moment. I feel like had Lana done things differently with 'Chemtrails' it would've gotten a different, perhaps more positive response from the fans. Imagine had she release the album as a surprise, didn't announce it in that post, cut both 'Let Me Love You Like A Woman' and 'For Free' and present the album as some sort of sister/companion EP to 'NFR!', or like her favourite songs from the so called 'NFR!' sessions or something; I honestly think it would've been lowkey perfect and more appreciated. I still enjoy most of the album a great deal, but I get why it's being underappreciated. ETA: Use a different picture for the cover, even though I know the COCC cover discourse has been beaten to death. I'm still underwhelmed by both the official and alternate cover.

Putting The Trio on the album, especially after Arcadia, was a CHOICE. Does not fit the vibe at all.

It was just perfect for me I was truly blown away, and it really solidified me as a stan. I was on LB during that time so I can just look at some of my old posts About the UV title track: About BTD vs UV:

guess we’re ranking albums again TFJ>EH>FROOT>ADIAML>L+F I can agree with that top 3 in any order but ADIAML and L+F aren’t touching those 3 albums

I think Chemtrails is my personal favourite record of hers in a different way, in a way that’s not necessarily synonymous with what I think her best record is (because she does have a considerable number of records that you could argue are her magnum opus)—I think Chemtrails is the record that best represents who I am, so I think I resonate with it so closely. The lyrics to songs like White Dress and Chemtrails Over the Country Club eerily echo parts of my experiences that I consider to be formative and beautiful, so it’s really a record I feel in my bones lol. And experiencing its release with everyone here and during the height of the pandemic (where I am, at least) was really fun! It offered a reprieve from everything that was going on at the time.

I saw someone post a link to Noir on Twitter and listened to it. Then Backfire popped up in the "watch next" tab on Youtube and I fell down a rabbit hole from there

yes!! and lana never fails to surprise me– i really thought dealer was going to be a super dark, diamanda galas esque song based on her description and it is really something else entirely. her mind...

That spot will always belong to Lust for Life I think. I listened to this album for the first time in weeks when my vinyl finally arrived a few days ago. It still sounds fresh to me. My top 2 Lana albums are NFR and UV while LFL is last but other than that I find her albums so hard to rank. They are all pretty equal to me

I have to agree with others here. I find that BB has a lot of replay value and I often find myself constantly going back to listen to it. With NFR and COCC, I pretty much stopped listening to it a week after their release. I just don't know what's so different about this album, but it's very solid. Also upon further reflection, I think Lana shouldn't have included The Trio on the album because it's too jarring to be placed with the other songs. I would prefer if she put it on an album where the rest of the songs are in keeping with the whole vibe and sound of The Trio. I'm still eagerly waiting for her spaghetti western magnum opus!

I personally find it just okay lol. Again, it's creative but not pretty or much interesting What do y'all think about ADIAML now that it's been months since its release btw? I think it's an UPGRADE from L+F and has some of her best songs (to me) such as Venus Fly Trap and Flowers. It's a strong 9/10 to me FROOT > TFJ > AD > EH/L+F

UV is what really made me become a stan! I loved BTD but I still didn't consider myself that much of a fan, but when West Coast and Shades of Cool came out.. I remember being so hooked up, I'd listen to them all the time and I was in love with the West Coast video. I was only 14/15 years old so I don't remember that much but I wish I could experience it again

BtD was my pre-teens album and it suited that period perfectly . When i entered my teens i started listening to more alt and rock music . So when I found out about WC I was left speechless . I still believe that it is if not the best one of her most well crafted songs . Mainstream artists could only dream of making that song in that period . After that song I was pretty sure that the album would be a masterpiece . I used to listen to the entire album multiple times a day and really appreciate it’s greatness during my summer holidays . From the imagery to the music everything was so spot on. She was unstoppable in that period . I still believe that she has to revisit the genre and expand that soundscape because it definitely suits her so much .

i was SO excited– i'd become a fan during BTD era but hated the production on the songs. it was clear to me that lana was really talented but i didn't vibe with the sound of the songs. when UV dropped i was in heaven– it was everything i could've wanted from lana and more. i remember west coast dropping and being like ????? this is gold!

Here is a double album concept — the elusive “Pacific Blue” project with covers of classics by icons such as Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, and Chris Isaak AND the newly-teased “Country & Western” project featuring American standards/classics and country originals.
