TBH all the "Jack vs other producers talk" makes Lana look like someone who's artistic integrity, process, and growth is tied to the men she's worked with--rather than accepting that she's forged her own way and evolved into the musician she wants to be. Lana is in complete creative control, and to blame her falters on Jack or any other producer also means to diminish her successes as the result of her producers; both are untrue.

I've been sorting unreleased Lana in my music library by year for forever now but that has become kinda messy with some songs' years being uncertain and songs recorded in the same year being intended for different albums. To avoid messyness I started merging some albums (like 2014 and 2015) but then I got songs intended for Ultraviolence, Honeymoon and Lust for Life in the same album and that's just kinda weird tbh. Even sorting songs by album sessions would be a mess cause then you got her 2008-2010 unreleased where she was just recording 5932 songs a week with random people for whatever reason. Things used to be much simpler when nothing beyond the untouchable 5 leaked tbh! Anyways, how do y'all sort her unreleased music? (You can describe it or just post screenshots)

Currently crying to Kintsugi, because my dad passed away a couple months ago, so I've been singing "Daddy, I miss you". The part about the Road Runner Cafe is hitting me really hard. He had this car called a Road Runner when I was really young. It was his favorite car in the world (and he was obsessed with cars). We used to go to this old cafe for breakfast every Saturday morning, so I picture being at that cafe and getting out of the road runner with him. I wish I could tell Lana "thank you" for writing this song. It's very comforting right now. A lot of these songs are.

i'm so conflicted with the album. there's a lot of good songs individually but it feels like there's no cohesion with the sound or theme.

Why aren't people talking about how amazing Fishtail is? Like, it combines rock sound with R&B? It's so well executed and sets Peppers up musically. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. The execution of all this is so Lana Del Rey

honestly i gave up on it Currently I have a single "Unreleased" album with 250+ songs and a "Demos" album for each of her albums. But I only add demos for songs that were released on the "Demos" album. The rest goes on the big "Unreleased" album because it's to much work trying figuring something out.

If the LDR Album Process Discussion thread is too long for you: In January 2013 Lana was photographed with Rick Nowels while recording songs for her sophomore album. Her notebook had a list of songs on the side of it with an underlined working title, "Tropico" at the top. During an interview in November 2012 she mentioned that Cola would be the second single from Paradise and that she really hopes to release short films for Gods & Monsters and Bel Air. What's weird is, that the visualizer for Bel Air released in November 2012 had this in the description: "i lost my reputation, i forgot my truth. But i have my beauty and i have my youth. Tropico the film, coming next year." That leads us to conclude that TROPICO was really just a placeholder name for the then unnamed project but it might be linked conceptually to the stuff she was recording at that time, knowing how Tropico had strong biblical and spiritual imagery. This is the track list: Tropico Old Money Black Beauty Guns & Roses Lake Placid Summertime Melancholia Jesus Pink Champagne Elvis Earthquakes ? Axl Rose ?

I am just so tired of Ultraviolence stans. Like I get it. I remember when I was 15 and just being sad and depressed af feeling like a bad bitch listening to UV but get over it!?? Ocean Blvd and any of her upcoming projects don’t have to be something she’s done already. It just bugs me when I see comparisons to UV or remakes in UV style because people just want fetch to happen so bad?

I truly don’t mean this in a rude way but some people have GOT to let the Jack Antonoff hate go. You NEED to move on. She’s almost 40 years old. She was still in her twenties in the UV era and clearly much unhappier. You can’t expect that she’s going to write the same damn kind of songs for ten years straight. also — I can guarantee if she WAS writing UV carbon copies ten years after that album came out people would complain she wasn’t changing her sound enough. Enough is enough!!!!

Firstly, Lana does have experience producing and has those credits on multiple songs. She's been doing it since the Lizzy Grant days. Ultraviolence (which half of this site acts like is the only album Lana's ever made that's worth listening to) even has songs where Lana has producer credits (PWYC and Guns and Roses). I simply don't think it's accurate to say that Lana's not a producer because she's done it before and I'm sure she'll do it again. Secondly, the producer is not the artist! It's really that simple. At the end of the day, it's not about what the producer wants because it's not their album. I think people hold way too much stock in the man behind the scene rather than the person who's actually putting the album out, writing the music, and hiring these producers to help her to best display her vision. It's not about the producers: it's about Lana. This is a very stupid argument that should not be had in this thread so moving on. I'm really loving Let The Light In lately. It's currently my most streamed song from the album.

If anyone's going to a M&G, you should ask her for the name of the EP she was planning to release in 2013 with songs like Dear Porcupines/Rough Love/A Million Men and featured production by Doveman and John Feldmann. I don't know if anyone here cares but that's been one of my top Melanie mysteries for years (and she's less likely to call security than if you ask about Sirens/Garden/etc, so that's a plus!)

i feel really bothered by this idea that people, especially (and for the most part) women must be "feminist" and talk about "feminist" ideal all of the time, they can't say anything or express anything that doesn't go along with the feminist status-quo, lana's music may not be "feminist" but she should have the right to talk about her experiences and her feelings even if they don't come across as "empowered" or "progressive", women do not exist to constantly have to be empowered or to promote feminist ideals at all times, we still should acknowledge our truths and our experiences, the mindset that women can't talk about their complicated feelings, or their difficult experiences, because it might not be "feminist" actually hurts women more in the long run

fingertips has REALLY grown on me might be top 3 now. mental illness, worrying about future children, uncle dave, mommy issues, grappling with mortality, and she still got in under 6 minutes. it’s not a short song by any means but the speed and efficiency with which she was able to mass trauma dump on this track is so impressive
