8 likesI was told to post this on Lana Thoughts and felt this was the most appropriate thread. I will edit later and post links/pictures. This is everything till now that we know about Princess Superstar's involvement in Lana's career. Princess Superstar is another artist who once worked with Ben Mawson, Lana’s manager. She worked with Lana ~2008-2010, but the timeline is tentative, as you’ll see. Princess Superstar said in a 2013 interview with Lana Del Rey Now tumblr that when she met Lana she was already using the Lana Del Rey moniker. This is during 2009. However, in other instances where she has referenced Lana, she has used the name Lizzy Grant or Lizzie Grant. Go figure. In 2021, Princess posted mp3 files of unreleased Lana Del Rey songs that she produced on her Patreon. She wrote this about Catch & Release, “Unreleased Lana Del Rey [sic] I produced…Great story- in 2009 my husband told me he found this "cool singer" Lizzie Grant and she was a big fan of mine. I said I didn't have a lot of time (LOL!) and ok let's see what she's about…two years later Lana Del Rey was born.” Princess Superstar wrote this about Maha Maha. “Exclusive for you guys! When Lana was merely Lizzy Grant with a failed record, my husband met her and said ‘I've found this really great singer you have to work with her!’ I said ok I am not much of a producer but I will try LOL. I worked with her and produced a few songs…We recorded this at my apartment in the Lower East Side in NYC and then brought it to a studio in Tribeca.” Lastly, about the track Golden Grill, she said, “This [song is] called Golden Grill and I produced it in 2008 (I think?? LOL my brain!!) I was living in Red Square, a cool building on the Lower East Side on NYC- and had a crappy bedroom studio with just one tiny little input board and a shitty mic.” http://lanaboards.com/topic/2247-lana-del-rey-now-interview-with-princess-superstar-moije-joue-producer/?do=findComment&comment=1228784 In the 2013 interview she was asked, “The ‘Kill Kill’ EP was released in October 2008 under the name Lizzy Grant. Had you heard about Lizzy prior to meeting her? Which name was she using at the time you met?”, and this was her answer: “ No, I did not hear about her and she was using ‘Lana Del Rey’ already.” Basically, don’t take Princess Superstar’s anecdotes for absolute fact. No offense to her. Nevertheless, these things are for certain: Ben Mawson was originally Princess Superstar’s lawyer. Princess has consistently testified on multiple occasions that she introduced Lana to Ben Mawson. She herself met Lana through her partner, Miguel Ortega, who is a music producer. Princess Superstar produced tracks for Lana. https://web.archive.org/web/20110806165719/https://princesssuperstar.com/blog/?p=1009 In the 2013 interview with Lana Del Rey Now tumblr, Princess Superstar said, “ [Lana and I] were working together and I really believed in her, so I introduced her to my then lawyer, Ben Mawson, who I knew was a hustler in the music biz.” Then she claimed, “ We all met at the Bowery Hotel in New York, I played him the music and then he became her manager.” Lana however has said she met Ben at the CMJ Festival in New York's Chinatown. But but but! The Bowery Hotel is in Chinatown. Next. On Janurary 22nd, 2010, Lana, under the name Lana Del Rey & The Casinos, performed remixes of Hundred Dollar Bills (also known as C-Note which is what Kalae referred to it later) and Diet Mountain Dew with special guest Kalae. http://lanaboards.com/topic/1645-20100122-highline-ballroom/?do=findComment&comment=426939 http://lanaboards.com/topic/1645-20100122-highline-ballroom/?do=findComment&comment=95934 http://lanaboards.com/topic/1645-20100122-highline-ballroom/?do=findComment&comment=1266432 According to Kalae, she had her own verses. However, this remix is not the version of Hundred Dollar Bills with a rap verse. These versions performed on 01/22/2010 have not surfaced. These remixes were produced by Princess Superstar. (There is speculation of there being other remixes involving Princess Superstar! ) Princess Superstar messaged lizzology yesterday and said, “Hi there! I will look for the Kalae song it is probably in some dusty old hard drive ha ha!” Known Lana songs that involve Princess Superstar are Moi Je Joue, Live Forever/Golden Grill, Catch & Release, and Maha Maha. These titles are registered with the ACSP and all credit Concetta Suzanne Kirschner, which is Princess Superstar’s real name. https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/887533147 https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/887533090 https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/887532779 https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/887533110 Moi Je Joue leaked in 2012. Princess Superstar acknowledged the track in 2013. She commented,”I have no idea how that got out because it’s beyond rough and the worst one that we did together.” Princess Superstar shared a Live Forever Acapella track on her Patreon September 23, 2022. https://twitter.com/psuperstar/status/1573387915929190400?s=46&t=1DfgrQUFqWShqYr7RfTokQ http://lanaboards.com/topic/15959-princess-superstar-lizzy-grant-segement-on-patreon/?do=findComment&comment=1386810 She also clarified that it is the song “Chick Habit” that has backing vocals from Lizzy not "Boss Chick" which she originally claimed in 2021. Lizzy's vocals are in the chorus. http://lanaboards.com/topic/15959-princess-superstar-lizzy-grant-segement-on-patreon/?do=findComment&comment=1386281 Edited for links to sources!

7 likesI CAN FLY is one of the greatest track she's ever written, extraordinary melody & unique composition with first glimpse of happiness & hope & empowerment in her music catalogue at that time. We weren't ready for that convo.

6 likesNot going to lie, i kind of want to wait longer for this album. Like maybe another year. Especially if Lana started posting snippets. That would be such a great edge for already deprived fans. Y'all would go feral upon the release 😉

6 likesI told y'all we're not getting anything this year When Ben says "soon," add six months or more from that date. First time he said soon about this album in July? Ok, then January at the earliest for a single. I predict a May release.

4 likesloving how in 2022 producers are leaking the songs, not leakers… Chris Braide, Princess Superstar… It’s reverse Warholian. It’s ARTPOP. It’s making Marilyn the canvas.

4 likesI don't think it's that far just based on her previous releases. We never had to wait more than 2 years for an album and even on the longest periods between records we got an early single months before (the outlier being Love/LFL but since it leaked we got it early anyway). Also I know we have to take Ben's comments with a grain of salt but she's been working on this at least since late 2021 (and probably even before since BB was finished in the summer and she tends to start the next thing while finishing the former) so I do believe the album is almost done

4 likesI don’t mind waiting a little longer, especially if there is a side track / collab we could get this fall from her (if she recorded any, which is likely I guess). But maybe not a whole year; maybe like six months, with the lead in the coming months. (Thank God for Broken Bella’s latest release to get me satisfied until then; I was sure, this summer, we’d already be into this era’s pre-release at this time of year).

I think the whole Masochism 2016 will leak... Always ready to lose you Hurt by you Guardian Pray For Rain All to myself Finders Keepers And now The Woods We getting feed -
4 likesHad a dream she released the album in October and the cover was an outtake of the blue banisters shoot where she’s crying & the album sounded like a more whimsical Blue Banisters with lots of references to the people around her. One of the lines was about living in “Justin Bieber’s LA”, idk what that means tbh it sounded very ominous & kinda bad.

4 likesI've been listening to a lot old songs of lana that got forgotten like, ''some things last a long time'' and her movie soundtracks and then i bumped into ''i can fly'' and something clicked in my mind. She already revisited ''i can fly'' and ''big eyes'' in the lasts years according to the leaks that those songs were considered to be in ''blue banisters'' with ''fine china'' as well, and i started to listen repeated times these songs and i realized that it has a similarity with the description and direction that she seems to be going. (With the magazine interview and the snippet). I love i can fly instrumental, its monumentous, so i'll be looking forward to something like this, kinda haunted and orchestral.

4 likesI know that Lana will never do this but I think she'd suit an album like Dawn FM. Not necessarily the 80s pop but I think it would be really cute if she did a little radio broadcast thing within an album kind of like the honeymoon hotline.

Sky said several years back that the album would be largely electronic-based! She also hinted at the possibility of a double album. So, in a hypothetical scenario where she actually does end up releasing Masochism, I'd be here for one half of it being the electronic/poppier bops and the other having more of a rock/grunge sound. -

living for the synthpop feel that some of these earlier masochism tracks have... having guardian/i pray for rain/the woods on the same album would have earned her a permanent residency at the mother lake -
3 likesWe’ll get something from the LFL era even if it isn’t an LFL outtake per se (a TLSP scrap for example); we got TNBAR and California on NFR, Yosemite on COCC, and Dealer and Thunder on BB. If we’re getting piano and orchestra and conversational lyrics maybe we’ll get a fleshed out Valley of the Dolls!

LDR9 - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
NikoGo and 2 others liked a post in a topic by Trrrrrr
I really hate "coming soon" her manager often uses -
3 likesIn my mind her records form 2 trilogies (so far) We have BTD - UV - HM that are classic "old" Lana. Then LFL came out and for me it's the transition record. A bit all over the place but had some songs reminiscent of her earlier work and THE song that kinda changed her writing style into something more raw and literal which is funnily enough Change. Finally we have NFR - Chemtrails - BB being the stripped singer-songwriter albums It's not really that easy to sort her albums into groups like that cause she always has some outliers (and for example Sirens and AKA would be closer to the last releases than BTD at least sonically) but I feel like that's the general vibe of each group. I think LDR9 is going to be an evolution of her current style, not really that different from BB but maybe building on the "experimental" elements like unusual structures and melodies (and since she's automatic singing and doing the one take thing it's kinda likely)
