I will say I’m not the biggest fan of the CN MV, though I don’t think it deserves the “BORN TO DIE” treatment (unrealistic). I think moreso a video like COCC really excelled at showing that movie feel and Lana would benefit working with that director again.

The footage in itself was cute, and she looked stunning, but her "vision" made it hard to watch honestly. Would've been infinitely better with a full "film noir" aesthetic from start to finish and the BTS sequence at the end. It just did not flow well storytelling wise. Also the "people have a short attention span" argument is a bit exaggerated, "Ride" is 10 minutes long, has an intro and an outro, but it has 150+ million views (and I understand that it was released 10 years ago), but that video is cohesive--Candy Necklace, while beautiful, is not. She also dropped the video at the most random time without any promotion whatsoever... I understand that promotion wise she's into the "less is more mindset", but her feeling upset, while valid, seems a bit misplaced. I guess this post is her idea of promoting.

Just watched Barbie and Speed Drive had such a big presence in it omg no wonder it's doing so well. It's what she deserves, it worked soo well in the movie.

Honestly I think Charli was the only artist to really bring something on theme to the table. Besides the aqua song, no one else even bothered to try and world build / reference anything on brand. I think the Mickey song works perfectly in the Barbie universe and they really wanted to extend that with Speed Drive. Plus it helped that there was at least 3 other songs probably pitched for the movie that use the Aqua song…

Lana clearly cares as there were multiple times where she replied to negative comments. Some fans are unhinged with their Taylor Swift - Beyonce expectations on Lana, even more if they even leave horrible comments on her social media.

how does it make zero sense? the intro to national anthem is almost exactly the same as the instrumental to bittersweet symphony and people have been taking about the similarities between them for over a decade and she's done mashups of her songs with other songs that share similarities before (like cherry & scarborough fair) and national anthem is always a crowd pleaser and bittersweet symphony is a hugely popular song so a mashup of them would be perfect for festivals so its much more likely than it being a random unreleased song that even leakers and insiders have never heard of.

Okay, just watched it WHILE paying attention, loved it .....candy necklaces..... I LOVED seeing the bts shots, the black and white was lovely. It takes a village to make a video! The part where one man was simulating the car shaking, and another was moving a detached windshield whiper was cool to see. I wish she could've had a theater premier for it

I do see them both as sonic advancements for Doja. Everyone saying they sound like planet her/hot pink outtakes are just bandwagon hating at this point. She’s not going to come out sounding like a brand new person like what did they expect when she said she has a “new sound”… anyways in regards to her controversies as “Scarlet” literally who cares. I think the backstory of BB is even messier than what you described, TBH. Not that it’s a bad album at all but it’s true that it’s not super cohesive. lustforlife mentioned that this album happened by accident : she was working on her cover album and she got inspired to record new songs… which turned into many new songs, thus tossing aside the covers. At that point, she seems to have wanted to « tell her story » through these new tunes and unreleased from passed eras (the RCS post she did on CoCC’s release day or the next). BoZ also stated that the track list changed a lot during its creation and the more she recorded, the more unreleased songs got pushed aside, leaving only some on BB. The other factor we cant rule out but that I don’t know where to put in BB’s timeline is Barrie asking her to put Riverside on his album and she asked permission for four songs they did together to be put on BB and the cover album… Anyways, I’m glad OB got a bigger sound and I sure hope LDR10 will follow that, with some experimentation / alternative sounds

Actually, I don't think she did it primarily to have "success" or to push the album, but more to show us her visions (also because the song seems to mean a lot to her) and to give something special to her fans.

I think K-pop stans (and they usually know how everything works to a microscopic level) used to say (still say?) that you need to refresh the page, keep the volume up/not muted and clear your cookies for a view to be counted. there’s so much work behind it, I don’t know where they get the energy from, it’s worse than when I was a fan in like 2011 lol

Why Candy Necklace music video flopped: 1. Visually unappealing (When I say this, I mean the BTS scenes ruin the video even though that was the point but...yeah) 2. No promo 3. It was never a popular song on the album 4. It's 10 minutes and it was never a popular song on the album 5. No promo 6. It was re-uploaded 3 different times in the span of 5 hours 7. No Promo: Random Upload on a Wednesday Edition Still wish they did a directors cut of the "tragic movie star" scenes they were showing through the professional clips because I genuinely think that would have been one of her most popular videos. The whole concept should have been changed into having 2 different videos: One "fake" professional recorded video, then the second being the BTS "real" recorded one.
