I'm sorry, I know this is not the point of this post, but she performed American nearly 40 times during the Paradise Tour and it was actually really pretty when she'd sing it sjrkgnsk deserves to be remembered x

What are some moments from movies, tv that have stayed with you/ made an impact? I was scrolling and came across this, and Florence's line of "you're being mean, stop it" was just top notch. Discuss.

What civilized country kills thousands of innocent civilians, thousands of children, just to kill the terrorists behind them? What beacon of democracy repeatedly violates the Geneva Convention and denies the rights of Palestinians to defend themselves, in land no country recognizes as Israeli but as under continuous, illegal occupation? What Jewish state, founded to be a safe haven and refuge for Jews, sacrifices their own Jewish hostages and instead chooses to continue a relentless bombing campaign? What country that claims self-defense against terrorists, use terrorist tactics themselves? Where is Israeli democracy when Israeli police harass Orthodox rabbis and other peaceful citizens protesting the bombing of Gaza and occupation of the West Bank? What Jewish democracy silences the voices of its own Jewish citizens who advocate for peace? What civilized state, claiming to be interested in keeping traditions and heritage alive, erases the the historical and cultural heritage of the very land it is located on? From bombing Palestinian churches and mosques, to chopping down their olive orchards? Why can't the most technologically advanced military in the Middle East afford more precise, surgical hits against targets but instead has leveled almost everything in Gaza?

atlantic needs to trust her and give her Budget. her ideas are great but i feel like money's limiting her in terms of execution.

I Liked the ending. It was better than the whole music video. But the video overall was also better than VOID so I'll take it I guess. Idk about you but I'm sick of her falling through all these portals. I get it. It's the whole album and it has meaning and it's supposed to feel tiring, but now I feel the pattern is boring and too on the nose already. What's saving me my fan status is that Ive started paying real attention to all the Portals session outtakes, like Death (2020), Hawaii Space Guitar, Garden, Dragons Blood and Mother of Pearl. I'm seeing how beautiful, spirital and etheral this era could have been, and these songs pull me much more emotionally. But for some reason the songs she chose for the final cut make it seem less about the concept she's going for aesthetically and more about human crybabys life. Likes its been a mix up.

i miss when her videos were manic yet interesting. she used to be puking on abandoned carousels and getting kidnapped, now she dances in a filthy frank suit around the woods. i will admit the video game theme was intriguing but i can't with the costumes anymore.

2:40-3:17 and 4:05-4:23 from the Void video are still the best visuals we've gotten from this era

But the government has legalized these settlements, so it stands behind them. Maybe it's just the West Bank, but it still violates international law.

I was going to say this, the music videos lately have no substance and it just isn't true to her and idk just a big let down. When I used to watch her music videos id rewatch them because they're so good and striking now I'm like "ok whatever she could have done so much more"

Did she not just throw off the WHOLE story of Portals with this video lmfao, also the video was very disappointing with it being so literal and then 80% on the moving platform w an obvious green screen background

Margaret confirmed SMASH HIT The fact that it surpassed LTLI while LTLI had its biggest day since release week. Imagine the numbers the album would be doing if it wasn’t also Xmas season

no shade but i have no expectations for the video whatsoever i just know melanie hates the fact that she has to make a music video for a leaked song plus the concept of the song is a little abstract to represent visually, kinda like void, but i’d rather have something simple than a bunch of blurry nonsense. in a perfect world she’d introduce some male characters harassing her but we know damn well that she would never

idk how to explain it but in that tunnel vision teaser the mask looks a lot more edited than in the other music videos, it feels like it’s entirely cgi now

I honestly think this is just blatantly rude and disrespectful, the whole Lana Sarah joke isn’t funny when you’re literally interacting with her, like show some decency

I think people are just really fascinated by her vision and her work ethic, and overall talent and ability to craft such specific type of songs so effortlessly. She was NOT lying about churning out novels in Brooklyn Baby. Someone needs to hold her captive and record a 5 hour interview asking her about all of this so we can put it to rest once and for all.

I hope she gets the hint and gives us an ep or album with the scrapped songs we wanted, like another user said they're much more spiritual and pull you more and immerse you vs most of the album losing it's meaning finding it then flying to another planet like wtf???? I get it's the third album curse but like girlie do better we know u can. Ur not marinara and the cheese sticks don't kill ur own career

Y'all after watching the MV a few times I've thought about how if you read the lyrics, it's obviously about someone only wanting to sleep with Melanie (idk if I can say the word on here). But the concept of the music video leads me to believe that the song could also be about someone or a group of people (her label or her fans or both) or people in general who only want Melanie to act a certain way or they want her to look a certain way. It was a video game where Melanie isn't in control. Someone else is. If y'all have anything to add please do bc I'm going to need more time to think about this. I just LOVE the concept.

I had such a weird dream about her last night I went to her concert and there was barely any people, and I was front row. She played peppers which was super cool, but then she left the stage and people that were working had all the fans that were front row go backstage to meet her. So I went to go meet her and she literally looked like a grandma and for some reason I thought it was normal but then she kept hugging me for a long time and kissing me on the cheek like an actual grandma would, and I started to get so weirded out. I started to realize that Lana is only 38 and she’s not actually old, and I was so confused why she was old out of nowhere and kind of upset because she was acting weird as fuck I woke up after that really happy that it was a dream lol…

literally only complaint is the backup dancers being there, and even then, that's a personal choice, because I love when Mel's alone in her videos, or seriously invested in realism. The effects were amazing, she looked stunning, and the concepts were all just perfect. Chef's kiss to her.

omg also the way they fucking ate this: Nothing against Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, and nothing against Phoebe Bridgers for that matter. But Boygenius, the band of three musicians from Virginia, Tennessee and California, is less than the sum of its individual parts. In an honorable way, their joint debut album rebels against the cult of destructive rock stars and other rock 'n' roll folklore. It doesn't add any new perspectives to the male and heterosexual genre narratives, but at least some previously underrepresented ones. Nevertheless, The Record is not a system disruptor. Boygenius' songs remain too shallow for that and the band's staging as suit-wearers and guitar destroyers too firmly anchored in traditions that cannot be broken by reversing the most obvious signs. The fact that Boygenius were nevertheless celebrated in 2023 - also and especially for their positioning as a female-fronted band, especially by platforms and magazines that had previously shown little interest in rock music diversity - says more about the state of music journalism than about them. "TROPICO" (WORKING TITLE FOR AN EARLY "ULTRAVIOLENCE" CONCEPT ALBUM) ("Tropico" was never finalized and had only rough drafts, that later evolved into "Ultraviolence"; it's unknown if the project was ever intended to be finalized or if it was actually scrapped due to leaks that happened in July 2013; songs in this list also can be considered as "Ultraviolence (2014)" outtakes) i would have LOVED an album titled tropico. imagine how lovely the vibe would have been. maybe lana thought it sounded too similar to paradise... so maybe she could have named the paradise ep 'tropico' but 'Born to Die - The Tropico Version' doesn't sound as nice. i might be in the minority with preferring the title tropico over ultraviolence but then we would have never gotten the masterpiece that is THE tropico short film.... tldr; i'm happy things turned out the way they did <3
