Some popular Met Gala insider/update pages, including theofficialgala on Instagram and 21metgala on X, have stated that Lana Del Rey has been invited to the upcoming Met Gala, taking place on May 6th, 2024 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Lana has previously attended the Met Gala in 2012 & 2018. Note that the official guest list has not yet been released and as for now this is only rumoured, and Lana receiving and invite doesn’t necessarily mean she will choose to attend

A little essay i wrote for the country anti’s I understand that many of you may be feeling disappointed or uncertain about Lana's decision to explore country music in her upcoming album. It's natural to have reservations when an artist ventures into new territory, especially when it deviates from their established sound. However, I urge you to consider the potential for greatness that lies within this new direction. First and foremost, Lana is a master storyteller. Her ability to evoke emotion and paint vivid scenes with her lyrics is unparalleled, and the storytelling aspect of country music aligns perfectly with her strengths. Country music is known for its narrative-driven songs that explore themes of love, loss, and the human experience – themes that Lana has touched upon in her previous work as well. By embracing the country genre, Lana has the opportunity to delve even deeper into these universal themes and connect with her audience on a profound level. Furthermore, country music offers Lana a chance to showcase her versatility as an artist. While she may be best known for her dreamy, cinematic soundscapes, Lana has always incorporated elements of Americana and folk into her music. By embracing country influences more overtly, Lana can tap into a rich musical tradition while still putting her own unique spin on it. This fusion of styles has the potential to create something truly special – a blend of country twang and Lana's signature ethereal beauty. Lastly, it's important to remember that artistic growth often requires taking risks and stepping outside of one's comfort zone. Lana has never been one to play it safe, and her willingness to push boundaries and explore new sonic landscapes is what has made her such a compelling and enduring artist. While country music may seem like a departure from her usual sound, it's also an opportunity for her to evolve and grow as an artist, and isn't that what we want for our favorite musicians? In conclusion, while it's understandable to feel hesitant about Lana's foray into country music, I encourage you to approach her upcoming album with an open mind and a willingness to embrace the unexpected. Who knows? You may just discover that country is a perfect fit for Lana after all, and that her music has the power to transcend genres and touch your soul in ways you never imagined.

I'm not that smart, but I've got this to say - isn't psychedelic surf rock trip hop just 'Peppers'?

i love Lana’s themes, she really paints a picture with her words. shes so creative and poetic! my favorite symbol would probably be deserts (cherry and keylime pies, icees, sodas, soft icecream, etc). they portray an image of innocence and sweetness.

It's not a symbol but I'm a fan of the Lust For Life font she used in the trailer and Summer Bummer cover art. It's like "science and arts!!!!"

Henry, come on sounds just like a typical Lana song with some country inspiration like the acoustic guitar and lyrics, other than that the melody and structure screams alt/pop

She was using that term to embrace her femininity and reject the negative connotation of the word “whore.” She wasn’t declaring to the whole world she’s a “slut.”

I am still confident that this is a classic country album. I really don't think the Quavo song is for Lasso.

Thinking abt how Lana had no business going so hard on an EP like.... A 10 minute cinematic movie production level music video for Ride, a 20 minute campy film masterpiece known as Tropico, beautifully crafted lush songs, and so much more. Her mind amazes me

Tbf, I had friends that danced for money and I didn’t have the first clue until she said and it wasn’t like other people close to her knew either obviously Lana is a bit different and you’d expect somebody, somewhere to have some info if she had lizzys life seems such a mystery to me.. living on the road/ in a trailer park.. drug use.. sex work.. its hard to know what the life she was living back then was actually like, it feels like she just felt lost because she had poor relationships and was estranged from her family.. did she just lean in to this “fantasy” to feel like she belonged somewhere! We will never know

Where did this rumor come from that Atlantic is delaying the album and forcing her to do a long rollout? What indication do we have from her that resigning with Atlantic didn't get her a better deal in regards to releasing her own music? For all we know we could be getting the album within a month of the single? I feel like I've actually really enjoyed the slow rollout and the trickle of information for once. It's been refreshing after almost a decade of leaks and instant gratification. Charli works quickly and has an insane output of one-offs, features, and remixes compared to her peers, I feel like we can trust her to move at a more than reasonable pace.

It’s not picking a side about the label owning the masters… it’s literally what you sign up for when you get a record deal 💀 that’s the issue she had with the statement because it was misleading. Re: matty we have no idea what they’ve said about it behind closed doors but i would hope Charli obviously would have an issue with his racist antics

I never trust 'insiders' with long term, non specific information about Lana's releases, because if she doesn't know what's coming (and she's shown this again and again), how is anyone else going to know.

I think it just reads differently because that’s Lana discussing her past & sexuality on her own terms, versus a bunch of strangers debating it on a public forum. Not saying this conversation absolutely shouldn’t happen, especially because we’re people who consider ourselves fans and allies, but it’s complicated! I think it’s healthy to have some boundaries and maybe even a certain level of discomfort when digging into intimate parts of LDR or any other celebrities’ lives, esp. when it continues to be normalized to a scary extent on the internet. That she’s willing to tackle it in her music certainly opens up the conversation, but shouldn’t equal full reign to turn her story into total fan gossip fodder. The lines can be crazy blurry, but luckily I feel like most people on LB try hard to walk the line of curiosity as opposed to invasion of privacy
