12 likesI agree. She's painting a picture, using actual events from her life here, an idea there, a sudden inspiration or feeling here again. She's writing impressionistic stories or prose poems and placing them to music. It's a mistake to take any song or lyric literally. Whether it's 'Text Book,' 'Wildflower,' 'Old Money,' 'Honeymoon' or 'Cola,' we--the audience, the listener--get the idea and set of emotions she's conveying. She's not a more literal storyteller like Bobbie Gentry with 'Ode To Billie Joe.'

11 likesI’m hopping on this to say that I’m kind of frustrated with her lately for this exact reason. She seems to be trying to prove herself by making the most authentic music? There’s so many name drops and her music is full of pointless anecdotes or just like “Jenny’s in the pool”. Like, to the point where if she’s scrapping songs because it’s no longer authentic to her current life, it’s getting out of hand. I can’t say if that’s the reason for the scraps but honestly with the “let me write my own story” or whatever she said, I’m not the biggest fan. Love her and her music is great no matter what but I think she needs to stop worrying what people think about her music bc it’s kind of saturating it

I mean okay but the discussion that's occurring stems from the tweets he himself put out into the public sphere, rather than people making up "narratives". He: 1. Tweeted "What's up @BachelorABC" (which is an obvious hint that he's single and wanted everyone to know) 2. Tweeted "Better to know sooner than later" and 3. Liked a tweet about her cheating While I agree that he shouldn't be harassed, he brought the attention upon himself. Nobody would be saying a word if he hadn't said anything. He should've kept it private instead of hinting that she did something wrong to cause the demise of their relationship, and he knew very well what he was doing with those tweets. IMO it's an extremely immature way to handle a break up. Writing about a break up in a song in a cathartic or recollective manner is not the same as sending out a handful of passive-aggressive tweets that draw attention to the situation and cause people to ask questions. ETA: Also he's the one who said awhile ago that it was private and none of anyone else's business (which it isn't) and berated fans for asking questions, etc. Like okay, Mr Privacy - you sure want us know about it now it's over -

She’s literally never not delivered excellent pop music so I don’t know why some of you are worried.. I’m here for a concept album. The pop star selling her soul idea sounds really promising & something she could very easily deliver. -

9 likesI hate getting random YouTube notifications for clickbait-videos some idiot gay uploaded that features the Blue Banisters album cover ... I blame both the YT algorithm for recommending this bs and Lana for creating a situation, in which I could totally see her ranomly ropping new music without a word.

8 likesMaybe this isn’t a shared sentiment among all fans, but Lana singing, “I ended up awkward but sweet,” is one of the most heartbreaking lines she’s written (for me, at least). I’ve been trying to think of why it shocked me, and I think it’s something to do with this: There’s nothing particularly nuanced or lyrically fascinating about that specific line, but I think it marks a huge shift in how Lana is choosing to reveal herself. At least in that particular excerpt of the song, there’s no grandiose or cinematic presentation when she sings that lyric—just a frank, jarring confession of vulnerability. The recent singles almost feel like really gorgeous diary entries, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she delves even deeper in order to set her story straight

8 likesOnce we get the album we'd be able to tell if the album scrapping was because of the break up or not - we know that the three singles we got mention Clay in some capacity (and that this album was about recent events according to her) so yeah and the fact that she added Thunder to this album... Since she claims she's telling her story on this album it's gonna be interesting how she's gonna flip the whole thing about Clay but whatever we'll see

As a fan, I obviously want the best for Lana across all spectrums of her life and that includes her relationships. But I obviously don’t know her personally and I definitely do not know any of the men she has been with, so I think creating narratives about potential statuses of the relationship is something fans should avoid - I’m referring to comments I’ve seen on Instagram and Twitter, where fans have been making claims of unfaithfulness on either end and other intrusive things that are inappropriate and ultimately lead to a bandwagon of hate for one person :/ Regardless of what happened, I’m sure as a fanbase, we’re all collectively sending Lana our best! <3 -
7 likesThis. I find it sooo weird that some people (on here, on twitter, on internet in general) just start hating on a person in Lana’s social circle because they a) get a bad vibe from them or b) just don’t want a kind of music they think they’ll get from Lana’s interaction with them. Or, c) hoping that they’ll break up so we’ll get another “ultraviolence”. We really don’t know much, if anything. It’s just so, so weird to me how some people can be so strongly opinionated about someone they don’t really know. Lana’s an adult, I’m pretty sure she can make her own decisions who’s good for her to be with and who isn’t. If her friends make her happy, we should be happy too. I would never wish for her to go back to being depressed again, never. I’m here to listen to whatever she writes, and I might not always love every single thing, but I’m here as long as it’s good and as long as I’m interested. Sorry for going off topic, I guess.

if played well the concept of the “pop star who sold her soul to the label” could be amazing. maybe the visuals, the story will be dark/evil while the music could just be pop bc thats what the label would want to release and this could also explain why she’s releasing songs she didn’t write. -

6 likesI think it's like the overabundant and too-obvious classic rock references, it just seems that lately she's been name dropping too much and it loses any effectiveness as a result. However, they're her songs and I stand by her right to write whatever she pleases. I wish she'd really let go and write more distinctive songs like 'Live or Die,' 'Cola,' 'Gods & Monsters,' etc. But that doesn't seem to be where she's at right now.
