36 likesPleeeeeaaaassseeee I am absolutely inconsolable rn I can’t even process my thoughts about this She’s a genius. The symbolism throughout the whole video has me dead. The concept is incredible. Truly blurring the lines between real and the fake… The bigger the hair, the higher the crown

35 likesThis video was showstopping. One of her best. If it didn’t have the BTS footage it would’ve just been glamour shots with no clear story. Very gorgeous glamour shots, but it wouldn’t have the same impact.

35 likesMaybe the fact that she includes all those bts cuts alongside with official video is to prove a point that all these hollywood women she portrays in this MV (Marilyn, the black dahlia girl etc.) have all faced tragic ending by the exploitation of the media. And while her fake "character" in this video has the same ending (m*rdered & the paparazzi all swarm around her dead corspe) - she herself, in fact - the real Lana Del Rey in real life "behind all the scenes", behind this "character" is still alive & breathing, as we see in the ending of the video - it's just all "made up" It's giving National Anthem right here

26 likesThis is my favourite thing in a long time. Also, I didn't quite fully grasp what she was explaining until I read this YouTube comment: Edit: I also need to say, that ending from the diamonds dropping into blood, to the implied murder scene, to her smile at the ending... that gave me the same chill that her BTD era videos did with the car crash in BTD, being pulled underwater in Blue Jeans, the jump in Summertime Sadness, the shooting in National Anthem. This is full circle IM CryINg. Also thank you Jon Batiste. You were gorgeous too!

26 likesit's a commentary on being a woman in Hollywood... everyone watching you, being under the eye of the camera, being constantly observed from all angles and all the different versions of yourself you put on for the public lana talking in the background of the clips represents her taking charge of her life, finally being of charge of her art and direction and how the media around her is published

26 likesThat was ART. At the end where she was supposed to be dead like all these other women but made it out alive and happy omg

24 likes"Cause the whole thing about the video is like why it was all supposed to be behind the scenes was because all these woman who like changed their names, changed their hair like me and stuff, its like they all fell into these different like snake holes so the whole point is like how do you learn from that and not fall into your own thing" she says that at 4:06 Interesting concept

21 likesyou're just not getting it babe. It's a dis of the whole idea of nonsense pop video culture. music videos are dying out, people don't care, and the idea of Hollywood glamor and red carpet culture is tired af. because everyone knows right now that behind it is hard work, and pain, and sweat, and blood and couch casting, and tons of money and advertising and unequal pay, etc she explicitly voices this in the video by saying "i can't be a robot." she's over the industry. Like really over it. Tired of playing the game. She dissed it with Arcadia but this is taking it to the next level. So that's why she said "where do we go from here?" It's a full 180 from her BTD videos. honestly, i think it's the best and most important video of the year.

20 likesi think the necklaces represent each of the women before her who had tragic endings. her not wearing one might represent her breaking the cycle

20 likesTo my understanding, the 'Candy Necklaces" are all women in Hollywood, or really just famous women, being objectified and glamourized and overall dehumanized. I (think) the first might be Jackie Kennedy? The second woman portrayed is obviously Marilyn Monroe. I (also think) the third is a Jessica Rabbit, or a real life Jessica Rabbit-esque woman. Then its the Black Dahlia, and finally, Lana herself. They are the candy necklaces. The constant behind the scenes shots are meant to humanize these women, showing that they're more than figures or representations in the media, they're real people. The blood, to me, signifies the often tragic ends to this style of life, being idolized, etc. It could also just be a reference to the tragic end to Elizabeth Short (Black Dahlia), as her scene was shown right after the blood.

20 likesI wasn't sold at first, but... I'm sold Not only does this work so beautifully with the process-is-product aesthetic on Ocean Blvd, but is honestly such a definitive LDR statement. Like, the fact that there's already discussions about the BTS shots being inauthentic just speaks to how well she executed this concept of "blurring the lines between real and the fake" (to quote a certain BtD classic). You never know what's a persona and what's genuine LDR (whatever that is!). And the audacity of ending the video with her posing with her (as yet) nonexistent Hollywood star? It doesn't get any more classic Lana. In awe

19 likesDont have the time or the mental energy to elaborate now, but this may be the peak of her artistry till now. All of her deepest fears and ambitions summed up in such a smart, beautiful and disturbing way.
-
19 likesShe literally explained it in the video WHY it's a behind the scene video, so you can't get rid of the behind the scene footage just because you want more professional footage of Lana serving looks. The behind the scenes stuff is the whole point, so it makes sense why most of it is the behind the scenes not the actual professional shots. She clearly has a vision and I think it executed pretty well.

19 likesEPIC SLAY The concept The deconstruction of pop culture glamour The obvious shade at the music industry The diamonds in blood Lana's looks The fashion! The throwback to National Anthem and Born to Die glamour The noir look and feel The uber hotness of John Baptiste How the teaser was already conceptual, when you think about it The fashion!!! One of her top 10 if not 5 videos ever and her best since Don't Call Me Angel. I am dead ☠️

19 likesI found this video to be so captivating. The incorporation of the behind the scenes footage mixed with the official footage makes it feel like you’re watching the lives of these old Hollywood stars. That part with Lana talking about acting like a robot while dressed as Marilyn was really powerful as well. And of course she looked absolutely stunning. My favorite look has to be the one at the end with her Walk of Fame star. I can’t say this is what I was expecting this video to be, but I’m pleasantly surprised
