charli confirmed XCX6 is finished in a red carpet interview at the fashion awards (which she looked stunning at)... coming 2024 but we already knew that! so hyped for the album, what's everyone hoping for? i really like the conversational writing on Girl and the baby song so i'd love to hear more of that (AND SPRING BREAKERS...) pop 2's older sister maybe?

    Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd on year-end lists so far: #1 — Time Out #1 — The Sunday Times #4 — The New York Times #5 — The New Yorker #5 — OOR #6 — Uncut #6 — MOJO #6 — Les InRocks #8 — RIFF #11 — Pitchfork #11 — MondoSonoro #16 — Exclaim! #18 — Gorilla vs. Bear #20 — Esquire #21 — Rolling Stone #24 — Paste Magazine #25 — Consequence of Sound #36 — Crack Magazine #4 overall with 87 points from 41 lists

A&W being released on valentines day gives off the same vibes as when lady gaga released Judas on easter. iconic

Tbh it is pretty surprising to me. Ocean Blvd has its idiosyncrasies but I think it should be clear to anyone, especially someone calling themselves a music critic, that this album is not only a new height in Lana’s own career, but conceptually something few if any current musicians would be capable of envisioning let alone executing. You can like the music or not and I don’t care if some magazine ranks the album lower or higher, but in my opinion not even including Ocean Blvd in a Top 50 albums of 2023 list shows a complete misunderstanding of the current music landscape and what art is fundamentally.

I just checked AOTY site and their total list for the best album and even though Lana is 3rd so far I just see that critics want to give this title to some one era wonder again. It's the same old about giving all the flowers to underdogs and sure, it's probably even good but I just don't understand how these albums are on the same level with Ocean Blvd. I maybe can understand the hype around that Caroline girl, even though her music is not for me. But I can't believe that out of all albums critics and Grammys decided to praise that 3 boring girls album. It literally sounds like any Spotify Indie playlist you'll put as background music. It's not bad at all, the hype is just so random that it makes me dislike the album. And let me not even start with that Avril Lavigne tribute album at 1st place...

I'll cherish forever the moments I got to spend with her. She was absolutely amazing, trust me she was always so kind, positive and funny on social media but she was an even better person in real life. She was simply amazing. She told me to never give up, that she believed in me, we gave each other kisses and words of motivation. This was only a couple months ago. I'm devastated, heartbroken, I still can't realize. She deserved a billion times better. Goodbye my wonderful girlie, I'll miss you.

NPR did NOT have Ocean Blvd in their top 50 albums of 2023, but they did have room for Sexyy Red's Hood Hottest Princess on the list. I mean, who at NPR is selecting these? Almost every other major publication has Ocean Blvd in their top lists. I guess taste is loss on them. No offence to any Sexxy Red fans in the audience Edit: They do have some good contenders on their list, don't get me wrong, but leaving Ocean Blvd off is an insult to the art of music and lyricism.

Many songs from 2007-2011 were leaked back in 2012-2014 times, when people weren't really interested in knowing exact years of songs' recording, leakers were often giving a wrong year as well, and hence songs with a recording year known for a long time (f.e. Making Out had always been known to be recorded in 2011) were actually songs from different years (it was confirmed that Making Out is actually from June 2010, but different version was reworked in 2011 for pitching, but using all original vocal takes etc.), this is why I decided to list all songs with their unconfirmed or specualted years in hopes to find out if everything we know of is true, and if not, hoping to find out an actual year, if this information that leakers know of 2005/2006 (speculated year) 2007/2008 2008/2009 2010 2010/2011 2012/2013 Also one time someone said Sugary Sweet was from 2015, the other time I heard it was from 2017, what is the actual year?

Lana's albums on year-end lists aggregate: 2023: Ocean Blvd #4 with 87 points (41 lists so far) 2021: Chemtrails #30 with 78 points, Blue Banisters OUT with 28 points (130 lists) 2019: Norman #1 with 451 points (127 lists) 2017: Lust For Life OUT with 42 points (132 lists) 2015: Honeymoon #24 with 60 points (80 lists) 2014: Ultraviolence #14 with 103 points (77 lists) 2012: Born To Die OUT with 24 points (56 lists) So Ocean Blvd is doing far better than any Lana's album except for Norman, obviously.

here's my opinion... fordham road and money hunny - 2006 (no evidence to suggest they're from 2005, and they both first appeared on her myspace in summer of 2006) your band is all the rage - 2009 (it distinctly sounds like a 2009 laptop demo to me) 4th of july - 2007 (purely speculative since it samples the david kahne demo of put me in a movie which was likely done in 2007, but we don't know that for sure) bentley and crooked cop - 2007 (although i wouldn't be surprised if crooked cop is from a different year) 1949, come when you call me a.m.e.r.i.c.a, c u l8r alligator, elvis, jesus is my boyfriend, roll with me (on the radio) - 2008 coca cola - july of 2008 (i believe coca cola was uploaded to one of her myspace accounts so i believe that date has to be real) dance for money - june of 2008 (uploaded to her myspace) every song you listed in the 2008/2009 category i believe are from 2009, although it's hard to really know for sure with songs that haven't leaked since we don't have all of the information about them, or know exactly what they sound like hundred dollar bill (final version) - 2009, it has to be since she uploaded the music video in november of 2009 every song you listed in the 2010 category i believe are from 2010 hangin' around - i personally believe it's from 2009, but that's just my opinion and it's purely speculative joshy and i - i'm pretty sure that's from 2011 besides those two, every other song in the 2010/2011 category i believe are from 2011 earthquakes and lake placid - i believe them to be from 2013 not sure about sugary sweet, but i feel like the general consensus was that it was from 2017, but that might not be true, perhaps more information will come out about it at some point it's important to remember that there's a lot we ultimately don't know and trying to figure out what year a song might be from, especially one that's older and we don't have much information on, is based on speculation, sometimes it's easy to tell what year it may be from because of the sound, lyrical style, or vocal style, but we can't be sure we're right, i think it's best to just go with the general consensus for the most part, sometimes it doesn't make sense and should be questioned (like methamphetamines being 2006... i never believed that honestly!) but for the most part, it makes sense

considering that majority of her fanbase (still) think of her music as drugs and depression sugar daddy music, i'd say you're spot-on

I think Lana is too smart for the majority of her fanbase, and also too socially unintelligent for the rest of them. I think the people who can relate to Lana the most are 25-50 year old adhd/autistic women

I have had no interest in her performances since 2016. I want material releases girl. I'll move when i hear there's a release of a well-recorded live version that's good enough to be studio.

publications will say ANY random album is a top album or album of the year just because it's popular or trendy... it's hard to ignore them, because they do reflect how our current society/media views and critiques art... so i feel like it would be silly for me to say that we should just ignore them, i feel like we have the right to complain about it, never complaining or having strong opinions results in nothing changing, or at least, nothing being expressed, and i think it's good and even healthy to express our thoughts, opinions, complaints, whatever it may be i honestly feel like nowadays, publications, media outlets, or even just individual people/critics are just afraid of having opinions or being seen as negative or pretentious, but not every album that's popular is great or worthy of being labeled an album of the year

The two top spots for Ocean Blvd come from non-music media, so maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up too high. But there are still many lists to come, it's not even a third of what it was last year.

Stereogum did the same thing. Ocean Blvd has actually missed some pretty big lists so far. Definitely not as strong as NFR was among end of year lists but that was to be expected.
