something that upsets me about this album is that it's not about Cry Baby at all even tho she really tried to convince us that it is looking back at the lyrics from Cry Baby (album) the songs had a very very specific storytelling and you could very much tell she was painting a picture, a child who is born into a toxic family, even the kidnapping part is very specific. k-12 it's were the story starts cracking aka she got tired of CB and wanted to say smth more personal, wr still got very specific lyrics that serve the storyline (namedropping Kelly, Brandon etc) but also tracks like Show & Tell where u can definitely tell it had nothing to do with the storyline and it was smth from her personal pov that she tried to force into the album, making feel unchoesive. but Portals is were she 100% dropped the whole thing, even when she personally described the songs she didn't even mention CB or the events that happen to her in this album, cause there is no storyline, like, she is reborn and then what? everything is clearly Melanie related, you couldn't have CB (album) without the storyline but you can 100% have Portals without it being about CB like she claims, it's pretty obvious she wanted to get rid of the storyline but i'm sad she lost track of the story and basically dropped it without a proper ending

Just saw her latest IG post and this "not like the other Earthlings" act is going to get old so fast, lol. Echoing the sentiments about PORTALS being kind of all over the place, though. She needed to either commit to the theme 100% like Cry Baby/K-12, or lean fully into the personal elements and tone down the "past lives" storyline. If she would've taken more time during the writing process to blend the themes between the past lives/toxic relationships/moving on from her past, etc. Portals could've been a 10/10 for me. I just feel like I'm getting 3 different albums when I listen to it, especially with the deluxe tracks.

I know, it's no official merch, but still Lana got her cake boxes from the same seller (see honeymoon insta), so I wanted to share these photos with you and also my experience, in case you want to order one, too: They arrived today, luckily complete. The box the seller used was very fragile and was not handled well by the post, so I expected the worst. Only the mirror in the white box need to be glued on again. Unfortunately there must have happened a mistake with the seller's custom declaration, so I had to pay the VAT again... plus post office fees. I asked her before if she knows how to do it and didn't expect this now... So if you order from outside UK, you might face the same problem. I am so tired if ordering from UK. Will try to get the second VAT back now... However, the white/pink one did not look 100% as pictured on Etsy (color and form of "icing" - still OK though, but I would have preferred as pictured), the white one I ordered with strawberries instead of cherries... I’ve finally decided that Margaret is the worse song on the album i even préfère the interludes since they have more life to it. the album is already a classic. I left it for a minute since I was listening to jt everyday and only songs from it. came back to it today and shieeeeetttttt the way it’s cohesive, the journey you go on about grief and family, and love and becoming comfortable in your own sexuality and finding the joy in being care free. Lovely journey

It's the way it never becomes the europop track that the chorus promises for me. It goes into a drill track that is very meh. The song is not even horrible as in Unholy, but it's the potential lost that hurts. I lowkey think that, if the whole song was an europop/electropop track with only the Nicki verse of that drill production, it would've worked much better. But let me tell you, I'd trade Nicki's verse with another of Kim's in a heartbeat. No hesitation.

Something Sky loves to omit (and that she's been doing for awhile) is that her label has given her the green light numerous times to the point where she's in the mixing/mastering phase of her project her deadline to turn it in comes up and then she says she's being rushed and the project falls apart because the label refuses to give something they don't think will ever be turned in a release date and Sky doesn't want to give them any music because she thinks they'll just sit on it and never let her release it.
